# Bemused by this dropdown error

Hi all,

Eric Popelka here — I’m with SyncSmart, the product arm of Lynton (a HubSpot Elite partner agency). Running into something odd with a custom contact property that I’ve made with type = enumeration, fieldType = select. and thought I’d sanity-check it here.

Here’s the response I’m getting back:

`{"isValid": false,"message": "Prospect was not one of the allowed options: [label: \"Prospect\"\nvalue: \"PROSPECT\"\ndisplay_order: 0\nhidden: false\nread_only: false\n, label: \"Partner\"\nvalue: \"PARTNER\"\n… etc]","error": "INVALID_OPTION","name": "ss_cw_types_"`

What’s bemusing is that `“Prospect”` is clearly in the allowed list — both as a `label` and a `value` (`PROSPECT`). Yet the error I’m getting back is:

_ **Prospect was not one of the allowed options** _

Please advise, thanks.

Did you try with “prospect” in small letters? It might be case-sensitive.
