One of my biggest fustrations with Hubspot is that when a form is filled out or a meeting booked that the infomration may be changed on a contact or company level. As an example we had someone fill out a meeting request but used their companies info@ email and the person associated with that email information got updated with the person requesting the meeting. This also happens for hubspot forms, and is the primary reason we cannot use the intergration with Eventbrite, as we cannot ensure they will only use their email associated in hubspot. All I want to do is turn off this feature to avoid automatic updating of our contacts information.
We are a new HubSpot customer and just decided to use forms on our website.
That it is not possible to deactivate the auto-update is a disaster. From a security perspective, it is basically possible to mess up the whole database.
We tried with our own emails and Test User as name, so the data was changed in the CRM.
Please add that feature immediately!
Seconded. That “feature” to automatically update contact data only by matching the email address is a severe security issue.
Also agree. Using forms to create/update contacts is unfortunately unusable while it allows malicious users to overwrite valid contact details. If it isn’t possible to implement validation for this, I’d suggest that forms for creating and updating contacts should be removed/prevented in the product.
I do agree. Not just when creating contacts, but when adding ticket properties too. We constantly want to use forms to control the content in new tickets, but this becomes very hard to manage if data is being overwritten. The forms still work because in this instance it solves more problems than it creates, but its still a major problem for us.
I’d love for the first name and last name associated with an email in an external form to be conditional if someone already exists in the database. I hate that the First Name and Last name are overwritten every time a form is submitted. But I need to keep the names in there in case it is a new customer being added.
