# Bad Client ID

Hi team!  
Our OAuth integration with HubSpot recently stopped working with the error referencing a bad client ID:

`Authentication failure! invalid_credentials: OAuth2::Error, {"status":"BAD_CLIENT_ID","message":"missing or unknown client id","correlationId":"97c3ec21-7ee2-4a43-b3e7-04de3311b198"}`

This same issue takes place across 3 of our apps, all of them using Rails + Devise + Omniauth gem. I can confirm that the CLIENT\_ID is correct and is correctly passed to the URL when making the initial request to HubSpot for the user to login and grant access.  
The scopes and redirect URI are also correct and initialized as recommended in devise.rb:

`config.omniauth :hubspot, ENV['HUBSPOT_CLIENT_ID'], ENV['HUBSPOT_SECRET_ID'], scope: 'crm.objects.contacts.write timeline crm.objects.companies.write crm.lists.write crm.lists.read crm.objects.deals.write crm.objects.contacts.read' unless !ENV['HUBSPOT_CLIENT_ID']`

Is anybody else experiencing this? I’m pretty stumped as I’ve tried various changes and cannot get HubSpot to recognize our client as valid.

Portal ID: 5935119  
Client ID: 6a7fc6d2-8dda-410b-b321-a85b1d143b5a

Hi @BLindenberg

To troubleshoot the ‘bad client ID’ error, try disconnecting your app from HubSpot and then reauthorize it through the OAuth flow.

Will look for accurate transmission of the Client ID during this process, as this may fully resolve the issue.

Thank you for the response. I’ve disconnected our app and tried to re-connect via oauth at 22:43 UTC and still receive the same message. Client ID is 6a7fc6d2-8dda-410b-b321-a85b1d143b5a.
