We are a B2B bookkeeping firm who has long-term monthly paying clients. We use HubSpot primarily as a sales and marketing tool. However, we do manage all proposal changes in hubspot i.e. Upgrades, Downgrades, and Client Losses. These are each individually entered in as a new deal each time. Is there anyone out there who simply edits the original deal when a change in services or pricing is made to a client account? Or even better, simply makes changes to the COMPANY record. Because of the way we do it, we have no single source of truth for ops to reference in hubspot. You have to look at the most recent closed/won deal in comparison to previously closed deals as well as the company & contact records. When a new deal closes, why isnt it easier to simply update those same properties on the conatct and company records? Without having to create new (clone) properties onto the other objects? Not to mention, if the dropdowns of said property need to change you have to update it in all 3 objects rather than one dynamic property across all 3 objects.
I am a HubSpot Partner so also am running an agency. I personally think you would want to keep these in separate deals so any related invoices and activity is separated out by the type of motion- upgrade, downgrade, etc.
I think the answer instead might be setting up reporting so you’re not manually sifting through deals for information. For example, at my agency we have reports tracking revenue and I can choose a dropdown by client to see revenue in x time period. In your case I could also set up a report with dropdowns to track by upgrade revenue, downgrade revenue, etc. You wouldn’t be able to do that if you just edit on one deal. The total revenue on the company record totals the full value of any associated deal.
Let me know if there is something else you are looking to have aggregated in reporting that I didn’t consider.
