automatically update contact industry from their corresponding companies

So for context we have hubspot sales + marketing pro. Recently imported all our data from pipedrive.

I was trying to segment our list of contact by industry but unfortunately, none of our contacts have this info as of now. I’m surprised the by-default setting is a “contact industry” property that is basically a blank space to be filled in, rather than a drop-down list of all industries. Also disappointed that the CRM can’t just attribute the industry by default aligning it with the company the contact is attached to? Eg if I have a contact that is attached to a real estate company, I’d love it if hubspot could just sort this contact in real estate? I cannot manually update 5000 contacts, let alone request we do it manually everytime a contact is created…

So is there a way to automatically sort our contacts according to their type of industry without having to manually input it on each contact ?

With a Professional subscription, this can be achieved quite easily, using a workflow:

This would update the contact’s industry whenever the company industry is known or when it changes.

When you switch this on, you would enroll existing records. Keep in mind that this would overwrite existing industry values on the contact record with whatever you’ve stored on the company.

I implemented your solution, but the industries came over with caps lock on. Any way to fix this?
