# Automatically create Contracts from a workflow

Right now it is not possible to create a contract object in a workflow. This would be really helpfull to be able f.e. to automatically create a contract once a deal is put on closed won.

The already existing automation that a contract is created from the acceptance of a quote is not workable for our business, since the moment of starting the license is not when the quote is accepted, but when the product is delivered

@Erwinvanoosten, The Create record workflow action doesn’t list Contracts as a record type. Contracts only show up as the source for renewal quotes. So a workflow can’t make one when a deal hits Closed Won. What I’d do instead:

- Go to Automation, Workflows, and build a deal-based workflow that triggers on Closed Won
- Add a Create task action so someone raises the contract by hand
- Add a Set property value action to stamp a “Delivery date” or “License start” date property
- If you’re on Enterprise, a custom object for licences can be created by the Create record action

Check your plan first, since Create record needs Professional or Enterprise.
