Hi it would help a great deal if this automation was possible. Parent and Child companies are typically tackled by the same company owner so it would simplify our lives much more if when assigning a parent company to a company owner, all associated child companies are automatically assigned to the same company owner.
Same if i am assigning a child company, the parent inherits the same company owner.
These companies are already associated with eachother but not really associated if you get what i mean.
For example - we sell to apartment communities. Each apartment community is managed by a management company. The management company is the parent company and has a child company for every apartment community they manage. Salespeople are assigned by the management company - so when the owner of the management company is updated, all child companies (apartment communities) should also inherit that owner change.
This is creating a lot of issues for us right now as we’re doing automation based on company owner and it’s nearly impossible to keep the correct owners on every record with the current limitations.
I’m not sure if this has been built yet, but if not, it is sorely needed.
Would love to be able to trigger logic when a parent/child association is made and whenever Owner value changes for company with association. If parent owner is known and child is unknown, copy value from parent to child. If parent is unknown and child is known, copy value from child to parent. If both unknown, then whenever 1 gets updated, copy value to others. Would likely need to be overall system setting that you toggle on or off, and I can see places where even then there would be trouble (CS owns parent who is customer, child is not customer and Sales is working), so completely acknowledge not an easy solution. But I can’t even find a moderately easy way to automate this given the current state of things.
