We have recently integrated automated emails into our sales team procedures as a way to increase efficiency. This increase in efficiency however came at the cost of reduced visibility.
We automated emails to our customers to alert them of stage changes that don’t typically require responses. We did find out that these emails log differently. They do not log to the deal. My understanding is that because they are marketing emails (transactional, I believe), they log to the contact instead. This poses a significant problem when other team members are trying to “follow the thread” of communication between our customers and our company.
We thought that if the customer replied to the email, it would then log to the deal but that doesn’t seem to be the case, so even more of the story is lost.
Is Hubspot working on any solution to improve automated emails (which is a tremendous time-saver)? Do you have any recommendations on how to maximize automation use without having to make such a big sacrifice?
These requests submitted to the HubSpot Ideas section of the community are reviewed by the HubSpot product team, based on their popularity and the assumed demand. I’d recommend commenting and upvoting.
You can also help other HubSpot users find this request more easily (and drive traction) by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate it, too.
As far as workarounds go, if you want to at least see an info about the sent email on the deal, you could automatically log a note to the deal record and include a link to the marketing email. That way, at least the context is not lost.
