Hi - we are looking for a way to automate discount codes that are timed to expire based on the end of a trial. For example, the trial lasts for 24 hours. The person would then receive a discount code that could only be used for seven days. Looking for a way to do this through workflows/automation.

Thanks!

Hi @smiddy06 ,

Yes, you can absolutely automate time-sensitive discount codes in HubSpot; you just need the right setup using workflows and a third-party app.

**How to Do It:**

**1. Use a coupon code app that integrates with HubSpot**

Apps like [Automated Coupons by MakeWebBetter](https://makewebbetter.com/hubspot-automated-coupons/) or [Coupon Carrier](https://docs.couponcarrier.io/article/125-deliver-unique-codes-in-hubspot-workflows-using-coupon-carrier) can:

- Generate unique codes automatically
- Set expiration (like 7 days)
- Trigger code delivery via HubSpot workflows

Check HubSpot App Marketplace: [Coupons Apps](https://app.hubspot.com/ecosystem/5242085/marketplace/apps/coupons)

**2. Workflow Setup Example:**

- **Trigger** : Trial ends (e.g., 24 hours after sign-up)
- **Action** : Generate a unique discount code with a 7-day expiry
- **Action** : Send it via a workflow email

Codes can be stored in a custom property for tracking or email personalization.

**3. Alternative: Connect with Shopify, WooCommerce, or Voucherify**

You can also use platforms like Shopify or Voucherify + HubSpot via Zapier or Make to:

- Trigger discount generation when a trial ends
- Pass the code into HubSpot
- Send it via email using a workflow

You can handle this with automation by setting up a workflow that triggers at the end of the trial period, then generates and emails a time-bound discount code. Many platforms allow you to define code validity windows (e.g., 7 days). If you’re already using Payment Links, you can pair them with discount codes so that customers receive a unique link with the code applied automatically. That way, you control both the timing (when it’s sent) and the expiration (via the code settings), without manual work.

Hi @Dconn
Thank you for contributing to our community! We appreciate your post, but adding a bit more detail would make it even more helpful to others.
It would be great to see step-by-step instructions on implementing this solution.

Best, Victor
