Auto-associate contacts and companies: Behaviour with same domain name

Hi,
Does anybody know how the system behaves if you activate the “Automatically create and associate companies with contacts” feature but have multiple companies with the same company domain name? Does the system consider parent linkage in this case (i.e. associates a matching company highest in the hierarchy) or is the association made to the first matching company that comes up in the query?

Thanks!

Hey @Bürobert you can set parent company associations for branches of that company within the CRM, this can be done in bulk or individually:

There is no way to auto associate these at the moment though! However there is currently an idea post open here requesting this! I just gave it an upvote for you too!

Hi Tom, unfortunately this does not answer my question.

The question is not “How do I parent link two Companies”, but “two which Company is a newly generated Contact associated, if two (or more) Companies share the same email-domain”.

Looking at the video you have linked, one answer seems to be “If a linked parent and child share the same domain, the Contact will be allocated to the parent Company.”

So the other questions are, what is the expected behaviour if two Companies share the same domain but are both child to the same parent (which does not share the domain with the children), or what happens if the sharing Companies are not linked at all?

I assume the answer is either “random” or “the Company that comes first in query”.

Hey @Bürobert, there actually is a pretty easy way, check out: https://www.insycle.com/

It’s free to use if you don’t have a lot of records to associate :slightly_smiling_face:
Happy to help
