We are having a similar problem, but linked to recruitment. We have a form on our website to capture when people want to work for us and submit a CV. However when they fill in the HubSpot form, there was no way for the CV to be stored in the attachments section. That meant that we had to ccreate a custom property which stores the CV, but it does so as a URL link rather than as an attachment.
I was just on a chat with HubSpot Support and they told me that attachments submitted via a form are attached to the Contact, not the generated Ticket. This should not be the case, as it’s not intuitive for people to check the Contact for attachments when processing tickets.
We need to upload photos directly from phones to Hubspot deals via the Hubspot mobile app, organizing photos into a single folder for a specific deal. So we could share with a customer one link instead of adding 10-15 links into one email.
Currently, we use Google folders. However, to decrease the number of operations and save employees time, we would like to replace Google with Hubspot.
Hopefully, this feature will be available soon.
I would like screenshots/images that come in to support/service within the body of the email to be automatically added to the attachments section of the ticket. In the same way attachments in emails already do.
the file property field should in fact be a file field accross all the interface. KB says
“File” property type is used to allow people to upload files via forms or tickets that will then be available on their contact record.
The intention isn’t for a HubSpot user to upload files to the property themselves, this property type is just meant to give users a way to enable file uploads in forms. If you want to upload files to records, you should use attachments instead, available on the right-hand side of any deal record.
however, keeping this property as a text is does not provide a consistent UI.
Please do this. We regularly have to resend attachments to contacts- because people are people and our target cohort is quite time poor and they lose things. It would be that bit easier to simply drag and drop a previously sent file from the ticket “attachments” field. Evey second saved helps.
I like all the ideas in this thread - and it seems embarrassing that the HubSpot team has pretty much ignored it for 5 years!
My need is simpler and more specific - I can see that a ticket automatically created from an inbound email [to a connected inbox] gets an attachment consistent with the file attched to the incoming email. I have tried to duplicate this transfer in the code of a conversations workflow [longer story] - I can obtain the URL of the attached file[which comes in as a hubfs URL], but there seems no way to add this to the ticket so that it shows up as an attachment. I can add the URL to a file upload property, but that does not seem to have any effect. Seems like a pretty crazy limitation - right?
Hey so I read through all the ideas here and other forum posts and I created an app that can help with this problem. It’s listed on the HubSpot Marketplace and you can find it here.
The actions include the ability to dynamically rename attachments, update their visibility, copy attachments from properties to the attachment section, copy attachments to properties, copy attachments to associated objects, and more.
I also included a CRM card to upload an attachment directly to a property:
This would let you use deal stage transitions to require a file, as a thought.
This should hopefully solve a lot of challenges presented in this thread. The app works across all objects, as well as custom objects. I am definitely looking for some feedback to make sure I am solving the right problem too, so I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback or additional feature requests.
Have there been any updates to this? We use tickets for field issues with customers. Part of that form requirement is to attached images/documents of the issue at hand. If the problem is outside of our control and we need to get the dealer involved we come across the same issue of having to download the images to our desktop before forwarding. Seems very rediculous that it has to happen that way. If anyone has discovered a solution to this, please share!
I agree. I want to track individual files as part of a deal or a company, such as “NDA” and “Services Agreement” as custom fields so I can then check if a file exists and send out reminders, etc. The custom property type “file” should be available for more than just forms.
Hi all! I’m Rachel from the HubSpot Product team. This thread covers a variety of requests, but I’d like to provide an update on custom file properties.
We’ve delivered improvements to custom file properties in the CRM that are in beta as of today. These improvements will allow you to upload files to custom file properties, enabling use cases such as requiring files to be attached when a deal is created (for example).
You can opt into the beta under Product Updates - “Improved file property experience in the CRM.” Here’s a quick demo of the functionality.
