Hi everyone,

I made some changes to our deal stages and would like to remove two of them without actually deleting them to retain historic data. Is there any way to archive a deal stage or to remove it from the deal stage dropdowns without deleting it or creating a new pipeline?

Hi @Fexxi,

No, unfortunately not. There is no setting or configuration that would let you hide or archive the stage while keeping it in place and available in reports for reporting.

You could rename it is as “[archive]” or similar to discourage users from using it – but it would still be available in the UI for users. If you delete the stage, the associated deal historic data will also be gone.

You could also consider exporting the property history in case you ever want to access it again: [Export property history](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/export-property-history)

Theoretically, you could also create custom date properties and use workflows (or exports/imports) to “freeze” the historic information, available for reporting, allowing you to delete the actual deal stages. Just keep in mind that that default stage features, like funnel reports, won’t consider custom date properties.

Best regards

Thanks, Karsten. I have already added “Do not use” to the stage names. Your suggestion to export property history before deleting the stages is a great idea. Thanks!
