If/then branch: Multiple checkbox property “Has ever been any of X”
If yes: Set property value: Append Multiple checkbox property with X
Now you just need to do this for every option in the series. The contact needs to be guided through each one. Otherwise, it will stop after the first match.
This is still an issue?! And I’ve only just discovered this is happening. Thousands of contact records have been overwritten when the hidden checkboxes are on a form.
This must be one of the most illogical property behaviours I’ve ever seen and it’s been on this forum, asking for fixing, for YEARS.
Simple automations don’t allow to update contact properties so now, we are stuck with a pile of rubbish.
Can’t believe this hasnt been actioned in 3 years since this was first submitted. We have so many forms and fields that we cant possibly set up workflows everytime or need to remember to add a new form to an existing workflow. It seems crazy that this hasnt been sorted yet. Please HubSpot, sort this now!
In order to use multi checkboxes, overwriting when submitting is only one option. Adding one should be standard and makes more sense in so many different processes!
Replying to @EmmaRecruitee, who mentioned you can’t do it in your own import. Here you can. When you import the column for a multiselect and preface it with a ‘;’ it will append to existing values. If you don’t, it will overwrite them.
For example if your list is one, two and your column looks like ‘;three;four;five,’ the selected boxes will be one, two, three, four, five.
If instead you use ‘three;four;five,’ your values will be overwritten and the selected boxes will be three, four, five.
I can’t believe this issue has still not been resolved 6 YEARS after first asking, this is a problem for us as we use the form for RSVP to events using a property and when a contact is replying to more than one event that is running invites at the same time it is overwriting the previous reply and taking them off my list so i’m not seeing them on my guestlist - BIG problem when they turn up and I didn’t know about them or have not sorted out their food! Please hubspot, why have you not made this (i’d say simple) fix to have the ability to set a property as appending in a form, you can do it in a workflow and on the edit property section on the contacts page, so why not here…
Six years on, it’s hard to understand why HubSpot still doesn’t offer a simple append vs overwrite setting for multi-checkbox fields in forms. The current behaviour wipes useful historical data and creates avoidable workarounds for something that should be standard.
YES! This should be an easy one to fix… we have been asking for 6+ years. Is there still active development at HubSpot, or is everyone just vibe-coding their own CRMs now??
