API access to default properties

Is it possible to use the API to update the contents and order of the list of contacts seen under “Settings” > “Contacts & Companies” > “Set the properties your team sees on contact records.”?

I have tried looking through the various fields in the Contacts API, but was not able to find the answer myself.
