Regarding this function: Automatically create and associate companies with contacts
The last part “… associate companies with contacts” works great for us, but the “Automatically create” part creates a whole lot of new (almost) duplicate companies, missing reqiured data (for us), etc.
Is there a workaround/automation that will only do the “… associate companies with contacts”? Meaning, associating Contacts to Companies based on email address domain?

Not within Hubspot, but definitely within 3rd party. If you need something exclusively in Hubspot Insycle comes to mind. If you need something that integrates with Salesforce if you are just using Marketing Hub, as an example, then I would recommend looking into LeanData.

Are there specific domains like Gmail, Hotmail, etc., for which HubSpot automatically creates companies? If so, the following solution might help you.
By default, HubSpot automatically associates companies if the automation setting to create and associate the Company with Contact is enabled.
You can exclude certain domains from automatic association by clicking here and by adding domains to the “automatic associations opt-out” list here.
