We are repeatedly facing the same issue:
When creating an association, an association label can be applied specifically to a certain association using a matching property. However, this is not possible when updating or removing an association label. These actions are instead applied to all associations of the record.
It would be very helpful if updating and removing association labels could also be restricted to a specific association by using a matching property.
Use case example:
We manage courses in HubSpot. Each course is a separate record to which participants are associated. We use association labels to represent the status of each participant, for example: “Invited”, “Registered”, “Attended”, or “Cancelled”.
Creating the association with the appropriate label works without any issues. However, if we later want to update the label for a single participant, this is not possible because the workflow action changes the label for all participants associated with the course.
We understand that this use case can be handled using custom properties. However, since a person can participate in multiple courses, separate properties would need to be created for each course. We would like to avoid this additional administrative effort.
Currently, we solve this issue by creating a separate event card for each participant – similar to deals. While this approach works, there are situations in course management where it would be advantageous to have a single card in the pipeline per course/event.
Therefore, the ability to update or remove association labels for a specific association using a matching property would be very helpful and would also provide value for many other use cases.
