Currently in Commerce Hub Quotes the Subtotal and Total values are locked to HubSpot’s default pricing fields which are unit price multiplied by quantity, discounts and tax. Custom calculated line item properties cannot be used to drive the totals in a quote. This creates a limitation for businesses that price products or services using time-based or multi-variable calculations rather than a simple unit price multiplied by quantity. For example, in our case we quote hardware and service deployments where pricing is calculated as cost per day multiplied by quantity multiplied by number of days. A simple example would be a hardware cost per day of 25, a quantity of 10 units, and a duration of 5 days, which should produce a total of 1250. While it is possible to create a calculated line item property that performs this calculation correctly, the result cannot currently be used to drive the quote subtotal or total. This means the final pricing displayed to the customer must be manually calculated and entered. This introduces risks such as pricing errors, lack of automation in quoting, reduced confidence in quote accuracy and additional manual effort when preparing quotes. A potential solution would be to allow HubSpot Quotes to reference custom calculated line item properties when determining line item totals, subtotals and overall quote totals, or alternatively allow administrators to define custom pricing formulas within the quoting system such as total equals cost per day multiplied by quantity multiplied by duration. This capability would support many industries including hardware rental, event technology, temporary equipment deployment, services billed per day, training delivery priced per participant per day, exam and assessment delivery infrastructure, and consultancy services billed by duration. Supporting custom pricing calculations in quotes would reduce manual quote adjustments, improve pricing accuracy, allow more flexible commercial models and expand the usability of Commerce Hub for organisations that deliver services or deployments over a defined time period.
