Many global teams work in a different time zone than their physical location. For example, our sales team is located in India but works entirely in the US time zone. We have configured both the HubSpot account and user time zones to US time.
However, CRM activities (calls, meetings, notes, emails, tasks, etc.) are still being timestamped based on the user’s device/local system time zone instead of the configured HubSpot time zone.
This creates reporting inconsistencies:
- Dashboards are configured and filtered using the US time zone.
- Activity reports use timestamps from the user’s local device time zone (India).
- Daily, weekly, and monthly reports show incorrect values because activities fall into different dates.
- Sales performance and management reporting become inaccurate.
Expected Behavior
If an account or user has selected a specific time zone (e.g., US Eastern Time), all activities should be stored and reported using that configured HubSpot time zone, regardless of the user’s physical location or device time zone.
Requested Solutions
- Add an Account-wide Activity Time Zone setting that overrides device time.
- Allow administrators to choose whether activities use:
- Device/System Time Zone
- User Profile Time Zone
- Account Time Zone (recommended)
- Provide a way to convert existing activity timestamps when changing the account time zone.
- Ensure all reports, dashboards, activity timelines, and analytics use the same configured time zone consistently.
Business Impact
This issue affects distributed and global teams working across different countries. It results in inaccurate reporting, incorrect daily activity counts, misleading dashboards, and unreliable sales analytics. A centralized activity time zone would provide consistent reporting and eliminate the need for manual workarounds.
