Adding secondary company domain by workflow

Is it possible to add a secondary company domain to a company via workflow or automation? I have some companies that get enriched with data where a second domain is found and added to a separate property. I’d like to create a workflow where when an additional domain is found, it gets added as an “official” secondary domain name in the company object. Currently, all I can see is the ability to copy one property over to the domain name property, but this just overwrites what’s already there instead of just adding a secondary one

Hello @TheMGlover, thank you for posting in our Community!

HubSpot uses the primary company domain name property value to differentiate between company records, associate contacts, and companies when automatic association is enabled. If you work with a company with multiple domain names, you can add all their domain names to one company record.

I want to share this knowledge base with more information here.

To our top experts, @danmoyle, @mangelet, and @Lucila-Andimol, do you have any recommendations for @TheMGlover?

Thank you,

Pam

Hi @TheMGlover and welcome to the Community!

When you say you have companies getting enriched with dats, is that through a tool? Does that tool have an integration with HubSpot?

As a general answer, I don’t think HubSpot allows for the adding of a domain name as a secondary domain name in the “company domain name” property. We can do it manually, but I don’t see in a workflow a choice other than overwriting.

If it’s an integration, there may be some custom coding in the workflow, but I have not seen a way to do it with standard HubSpot tools, no.

Thanks! Yeah we work with Shopify stores and so use the Store Leads integration to enrich companies with a ton of data. The company is created using the standard domain name the company website is on, but Store Leads also provides us with the myshopify.com URL. (If you’re not familiar with Shopify, every store is built on a xxx.myshopify.com domain and then will usually display on their own domain too).

I’d like a way to automate adding that myshopify URL as a secondary domain in the HubSpot company. This way, HubSpot would be able to better auto sync new contacts and events, etc. to an existing company if they come in with the myshopify domain as an identifier instead of the regular domain (which happens sometimes for us in edge cases).

As it stands, I think we’ll have to rely on manual work. Either manually adding myshopify domains as secondary company domains when we can and/or using the merge tool to find and merge duplicate companies.

Thanks for your input anyway!

Also looking for an answer to this. Can it be done with Custom Code?
