When a new ticket is created because of an email automatically the subjectline becomes the ticket title. It would be so helpful if the ticket ID was automatically placed after the ticket title and also the subjectline. That way a ticket can easily be found in your inbox and in the ‘tickets board’. This is also useful if a client wants an update on a particular ticket as one client can have multiple tickets. Zendesk does this automatically for example.
DEar Sarah, you can upvote this idea which is similar : https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Enable-Ticket-ID-to-display-in-subject-line-of-all-email-comms/idc-p/333547#M55339
I agree that it would be helpful to be able to add the ticket ID to the subject line. Most modern ticketing systems actually use the ID in the subject line to keep the correspondence connected to the ticket - usually there is a reply above this line. It is also a good reference number to have available for both the user and the agent.
Yes, ticket ID automatically in the subject line is crucial in a good ticketing system.
Any updates on this. This is something that would be very helpful.
Yes, this is desparately needed!!!.
Can someone from Hubspot respond with an answer as to why this cant be done, or a more elegant workaround - perhaps like an Email Template that you can use to respond to a ticket that has:
TICKETID (note RECORDID appears to be the Unique field?)
TICKET NAME
ASSIGNEDTO
DATE (Various able to b selected)
Etc
Thanks,
Graeme

Hi All,
I found out from Hubspot that you can add the Ticket ID to the Subject Line.
Go to Ticket Settings, then Pipelines.
Select your Pipeline.
Click on the Automate Tab
Then go to Additional status automation
Make sure you have a Workflow set up for Ticket Recieved status (see below)
Click on the Ticket Recieved Link
Then Click on Edit Email
Go to Settings
Then in the Subject Line section, click Personalise, then add in the Ticket ID (see below)
Hope this helps,
Graeme
But thats only for the initial Mail right? I would wish that the Ticket ID is given in the subject line in all mail communication. Like in other ticket systems.
Yes we were able to get this figured out. And now we have ticket numbers. So much better.
@CMcNeil So the Ticket-ID is given in the subject line automatically? How? ![]()
This request has been raised repeatedly over the years, and HubSpot has long been aware that including the ticket ID in the email subject line is not merely a “nice-to-have” feature, but an established best practice for effective ticket and email management.
It is therefore disappointing that, despite this long-standing awareness, the functionality has not yet been implemented. Given its importance for operational efficiency, we would strongly encourage HubSpot to reconsider the prioritization of this feature.
Interestingly, even HubSpot’s own support team includes the ticket number in the subject line of their emails, which further underlines the importance and practical value of this functionality.
Requested enhancement
Please add an option to automatically prepend or append the Ticket ID to the subject line of all outgoing ticket emails, including replies to existing email threads.
Ideally, this should be:
configurable (on/off),
consistent across Helpdesk, pipelines, and workflows,
applied regardless of whether the email is new or a reply.
This feature would significantly improve reliability, scalability, and usability of HubSpot Helpdesk for professional support teams.
Thank you for considering this request. I would be happy to provide additional context or real-world examples if helpful.

+1 please! This will be super useful for us as at the moment our support team spending so much time copying the ticket id to be included in the ticket name. Hubspot Team - Is this on the roadmap please? Any update on this or a workaround solution will be much appreciated? Thanks
Come on HubSpot. +1000

This is a significant pain point for our team and genuinely does not follow help desk best practices. Customers struggle to follow ticket threads because agent replies from the Help Desk inbox carry no ticket reference in the subject line, just whatever the customer originally typed. When a customer emails in with a subject like “Help” or “Question,” every reply in that thread is indistinguishable from any other. We get direct complaints about this regularly.
We spent time this morning specifically trying to solve this problem and exhausted every option before landing on this thread. We updated our ticket naming workflow to append the ticket number to every ticket name at creation, so the record in HubSpot is correctly formatted, but HubSpot Help Desk still ignores the ticket name entirely and threads on the original inbound subject. We also confirmed that Help Desk agent signatures do not support personalization tokens, so we cannot inject the ticket ID into the reply body automatically either. There is no inbox-level subject template option in Service Hub settings. Every reasonable path leads to a dead end.
The ask is straightforward: when an agent replies from the Help Desk inbox, the outbound email subject should use the ticket name, or at minimum support a configurable template with access to ticket property tokens like {{ ticket.hs_ticket_id }} or {{ ticket.subject }}. This is standard behavior in every major help desk platform. It is not a nice-to-have, customers rely on subject lines to track and search their support history, and without a ticket reference, that experience breaks down entirely.
