Currently, when we manually mark a conversation as spam in the Help Desk / Conversations inbox, HubSpot only flags that specific thread and moves it to the Spam view. It does not add the sender’s email address or domain to the Deny list, and there’s no way to see which senders have been “spam-marked” across conversations.
This creates a few problems:
- Our team assumes “Mark as spam” will block that sender going forward, but it doesn’t.
- We have to manually copy the email address from the Spam view and then go to Settings > Inbox & Help Desk > Allow & Deny List to add it to the Deny list.
- There’s no central log of which senders have been manually marked as spam vs. actually blocklisted.
Feature request:
-
When a user clicks “Mark as spam” on a conversation, provide an option to block the sender:
- e.g. a checkbox or follow-up prompt:
- “Also block this sender for future messages (add to Deny list)?”
- Ideally with choices:
- Block this email address
- Block this domain
- e.g. a checkbox or follow-up prompt:
-
Visually indicate in the conversation that the sender is on the Deny list, so agents immediately know that future messages will be filtered.
-
(Optional but very helpful) Add a way to see all senders that have been manually spam-marked, or at least link from the conversation to the relevant Allow/Deny list entry if it exists.
Benefits:
- Aligns with user expectations from other email tools, where “Mark as spam” effectively blocks the sender.
- Reduces manual steps and potential mistakes (forgetting to add the sender to the Deny list).
- Gives service teams more confidence that abusive or unwanted senders are truly blocked going forward.
This change would make spam management in Help Desk / Conversations far more intuitive and efficient for our team.
