When creating conditions for a view it turns out that only the AND operator is available for combining different rules.
Isn’t there a way to use an OR operator instead of AND?

This is currently not supported. There is an easy workaround for this: Simply create an active or static list with the criteria. In this list you can use the OR operator. After creating the list, you can filter your contact view by membership in this list (search “List membership”).
