I have a client with a more complex drafting, approving and scheduling workflow for social posts than HubSpot allows for.
We just spent almost an hour figuring out a work around. But the simple fix would be a 3rd scheduling option of “Proposed Scheduling Date/Time.”
Here’s why. They draft social content in HubSpot and submit it for approval. You cannot submit for approval without a date/time in Schedule Later or Publish Now being set. But they are watching the social platforms closely and want to actually post the content in a “just in time” fashion by coming back into HubSpot and using Publish Now on an approved post.
They don’t want to set the date/time they want to PROPOSE a date and time and then come back and publish manually when the time is right. The ability to propose a date/time would stop the post from publishing on its own if for some reason the team doesn’t actually want it to post yet. Proposing a date/time should still make the post show up on the calendar as a draft but the post will stay drafted on that date if the team decides not to post it yet.
Another reason is inventory related. The team thinks a post is going to go out related to a product launch and they get all the posts ready, but perhaps a shipment was delayed and then all the posts are delayed. They need to be in an approved draft state but not actually scheduled. This could create more like a library of approved posts that are ready to schedule but will not post on their own.
