Ad link clicks don't = landing page views?

We’re running ads on Meta and tracking link clicks as a metric. The destination URL for a particular ad is a landing page, and I’m noticing that the total number of clicks on the ad isn’t equivalent to the total number of views on the landing page.

If someone clicks the link in our ad that takes them to our landing page, shouldn’t the two numbers match? Wondering what accounts for the discrepancy here.

Thanks!

It is possible that clicks and views (traffic) do not match.

A user can click multiple times on your ads but it could be still counted as a single view on the website. Or a user clicks the ads but leaves the site ASAP, in this case, the click is counted on the ad platform however it will not appear as session/view in your website traffic.

Thanks - I figured it might be something like that, but having confirmation is good. Appreciate the response.
