However, activities that are associated to my companies or contacts don’t get automatically associated to the associated lead. This results in the lead stage not moving forward.
I have check the Activities associations settings, however Leads are not an option there:
Hey @FloraN - thanks for posting in the Community!
You are correct. Currently, there is no option to automatically associate the activities logged on Contact and Company records to the associated Lead records. With that said, I found this Community post, where another user recently requested this very feature. I highly encourage you to upvote this idea and expand on it in the comments to echo the need for this feature directly to our Product team!

Thanks for your answer! I upvoted the post you mentioned.
But in this case, how are Leads are supposed to automatically move from one stage to another? Since the automation offered by Hubspot is based on logged activities.
Hey @FloraN - great follow-up questions!
I’d like to tag in some Community experts here who can further outline these parameters and expectations. @karstenkoehler and @danmoyle - any insight for @FloraN?

Also, in Hubspot documentation Sync lead ownership and activities it’s mentioned “Also, activities from the associated contact or company don’t sync to the lead by default. You can also manage settings for syncing ownership and activities. This can help maintain consistent data between associated leads and contacts.”
Hi @FloraN. I don’t think I have an asnwer on how to fix this, other than what @STierney mentioned on the ideas forum. But, to your question about how Leads move automatically, here’s how I understand it. HubSpot lead stage automation relies on workflows triggered by specific enrollment triggers, not directly by activities logged on associated contacts or companies. Activities logged directly on the lead record can enroll workflows via “Activity properties” to advance stages.
Lead stages advance automatically through workflows using these enrollment options:
Activity properties: Enrolls leads when an activity (e.g., call, meeting, email) is logged directly on the lead record. Select properties like “Activity type is Call” and “Call outcome is Connected”.
Lead status changes: Triggers on updates like “Lead status is New” to qualified stages.
Form submissions or property changes: E.g., “Lifecycle stage is Marketing Qualified Lead” to move forward.
The key limitation here is that activities on contacts/companies do not auto-associate to leads, so they won’t trigger lead workflows. And workflows cannot retroactively log or associate them to leads. But if you build a contact-based workflow to help, you can use branching logic to update lead properties (requires association to identify lead).
It’s not a full fix, but I hope it helps with some context. Hopefulfully the idea gets noticed by the HubSpot team and a feature update will help.
