Prevent documents from being downloaded when viewed by link recipient.
An important requirement in sharing confidential documents and not losing track of where copies end up.
Absolutely need this! With download enabled, we can’t track when prospects are actually viewing docs.

Just asked support for this feature to prevent unauthorised downloads of our IPR content and was sent here.
Like others, we use this feature with Docsend and want to move to using Hubspot documents instead.
Without this feature though, prospects are able to download content and share it with competitors (which we can’t allow) and we also lose the ability to track opens, reads, capture emails, etc. when they share it elsewhere.
We also lose the capability to control the period of time they are able to view it. This is essential to retract commercially sensitive proposals and presentations when we have lost the project to someone else. Of course, when documents are downloaded without our consent, we have no way of controlling this. Our documents contain commercial notices disallowing this sharing without permission but we can’t stop it or know when someone has broken trust.
In our view, this feature is therefore essential.

In order to fully leverage the document analytics, the users should have an option to disable the download option at the document level.
Quick to implement, yet extremely powerful for all users and adds a lot of value.
Agree with the posters above - this feature is needed ASAP.
No point hosting important documents and pricing without being able to control sharing of these materials.

Yessssssssssss, this is insane. Allowing recipients to download a document automatically negates the entire tracking features. **bleep** HubSpot team, simply make the “Download” button optional to the user creating document, and use “display:none” css class to make it disappear when needed. This bad user design, has definitely cost me deals. PLEASE FIX THIS NOW HUBSPOTTTTTT!!!

Definitely**, such function is needed.**
Because of not having such a function, we are using Box.
The box is much better than Hubspot at this point.
However, Hubspot is better since Hubspot is Marketing Automation.
Please be aware that this function is way more important than other functions.
Agree with above posts- no point in sharing and tracking if the audience can download, then feasibly you’re only going to get 1 tracked visit per sent document. Why even track?!? This seems to defeat itself. Harder to enable download than it is to just display. This should be the default. There are 1000 ways to share a document, but fewer to show w/out DL. Might need to get a box account to add to this just for this feature.

Agreed, this issue was created by a resdesign of this feature a at ago, and it’s shameful that something that should take an hour of development tops, has been abandoned or ignored.

Still shocked this simple feature is being overlooked by HubSpot. The feature goes against the purpose of this tool, to be able to share a document to be “viewed” and for sender (HubSpot customer) to view stats on viewer’s activity. By allowing recipient to download incentivises them to do so, and then provides sender any information or control of confidential documents. Please get it together HubSpot product team, this is an easy fix!!!
We host multiple documents within Hubspot and would like to have the ability to prevent viewers frmo downloading the files. Hosting documents as “view only” would be a great feature that many users of the Hubspot system would utilize.
