Hi,
Is there a way to set up the system to automatically complete any outstanding tasks for a deal once it is marked as complete won or complete lost?
Hi,
Is there a way to set up the system to automatically complete any outstanding tasks for a deal once it is marked as complete won or complete lost?
Hi @NHarvey,
This is currently not possible out of the box, no. There aren’t any options to automatically complete or delete tasks under certain circumstances.
If a task was created within a workflow, it’s possible to also close the task within that workflow. However, it’s not possible to enroll and edit activities into workflows.
Other users have requested this before: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Closing-tasks-automatically/idi-p/425222
I’d recommend upvoting and commenting on the request. The product team reviews these requests based on their popularity.
Best regards!
Would love to see this updated to where tasks could close out after a given timeframe.
Hi @NHarvey -
Good news! We just launched an app on the HubSpot marketplace that allows for tasks to automatically be marked as complete.

There’s a free plan that accomodates up to 10 actions per month, so depending on your volume you might be able to use our app for free. Paid plans start at $10/month if you need more capacity.

Hi @NHarvey and everyone,
Good news, HubSpot has introduced task workflows!
Workflows
Task workflows
November 7, 2024
What is it?
Users can now create task-centered workflows.
Why does it matter?
Enhance task automation with greater flexibility and efficiency. Trigger automation directly from changes in tasks, like creation, status updates, or overdue notifications. Establish standard, automated processes for task management. For example, alert a sales manager when specific tasks complete or become overdue, or automatically create tasks in other project management tools when you start tasks in HubSpot.
How does it work?
To create a task workflow:
From the workflows tool homepage, click “Create workflow” and select “From scratch”
Choose the task object on the object select page
Choose the trigger based on task events or properties
Add actions as usual
Who gets it?
Marketing Hub Pro, Marketing Hub Enterprise, Operations Hub Pro, Operations Hub Enterprise, Sales Hub Pro, Sales Hub Enterprise, Service Hub Pro, Service Hub Enterprise
You can find this beta here:
You can now enroll tasks based on criteria of your liking (‘When filter criteria is met’ > change ‘Filtering on’ dropdown from tasks to deals > under deal properties find deal stage and specify it) and use the ‘Edit record’ workflow action to set a task status to completed:
If you want to make it easier for others to find this update, you can help them by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate it, too.
Have a great day!
