Hi @JMauldin

If you’re only using HubSpot forms and not syncing products, orders, or contacts from Shopify, the upgrade notice can feel unnecessary. But yes, the upgrade is still required.

Once HubSpot sunsets the legacy Shopify app, that connection will break, and even your basic lead capture forms could be affected. HubSpot’s docs confirm that when legacy apps are deprecated, all related features stop working

The new integration isn’t just a cosmetic change. It uses a newer data model (contacts, products, carts, orders) and fixes a lot of syncing limitations. Even if you don’t need orders-to-deals sync, it gives you a more stable foundation and future-proofs your setup

So, in short: yes, it’s necessary. Your forms will keep running smoothly after migration, and you won’t run into last-minute headaches when the old app shuts down.

Since you mentioned only using forms, one thing to keep in mind is whether you’ll ever want Shopify data (like abandoned carts or purchases) tied to those leads. If that’s interesting, upgrading gives you that option for free.

And if you ever want more control over what syncs in real-time between Shopify and HubSpot like selectively syncing only certain customers or handling two-way updates cleanly that’s where platforms like Stacksync help. It’s built for real-time, bidirectional sync without the usual “dirty plumbing” of custom code, so your team can avoid sync gaps and data inconsistencies as you scale.

Hope this helps.

I currently have the legacy Shopfify+HubSpot data integration, and am receiving notices that I need to upgrade. We only use HubSpot for lead foms and no other activities. Is this upgrade still necessary? I don't want to risk the forms not working once the sunset deadline passes. Thanks!

Hi @JMauldin,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

I've received confirmation from our internal team regarding your concern about the Shopify upgrade. You can rest assured that upgrading to the new integration will not change or reset any of the customizations you currently have configured within your Shopify account.

However, it's important to understand that if you choose not to migrate, your HubSpot account will eventually lose its connection to Shopify. This disconnection could lead to disruptions in any workflows that rely on Shopify data.

Why Upgrade? The new Shopify integration, released in 2023, offers significant enhancements, including an improved data model (with order and cart objects), bidirectional syncing for contacts and products, advanced synchronization settings, and better visibility into any syncing errors.

I hope this clarifies the situation for you!

Best regards,
Diana
