To create lasting relationships and to build trust you have to listen to, serve, and follow up with your customers; it’s the best way to learn how to provide the best, personalized experience. Keeping this in mind, what can your business do as a follow-up with its customers after they make a purchasing decision to create a moment of delight?

A great start would be a personalized Email of gratitude, followed with a discount offer to inspire returning customers.

A great way to create a moment of delight would be to follow-up with a survey. Asking your customers what they liked and disliked from their service, and what they liked/disliked from the product bought. You may also want to ask them if their is anything else they would like to know about the product, and offer a discount on their next purchase if they refer your product to a friend.

My "customers" are volunteers, so we should be providing occasional "perks": social events, ice-cream coupons, hand-written thank-you notes, gift cards, etc. to recognize their hard work and efforts.

In the delight stage, this customer will be part of the New Customer group. We can nurture this group by sharing valuable content related to best use of the product or services. Also, with a gentle check-in or a survey will allow to understand if the customers are happy with products and services.

In time they can be moved to the existing customers group. Here, we can share content on new products or services, and word of mouth content.

Customers who are delighted would usually don't mind a survey. Accordingly, customers who were not so delighted would express in the survey what they dislike. This way, the business would adjust or improve their services.

Keeping a tab on when they mention our business on a social platform, sending them an email delivering more information about the product or services they have purchased, and a short survey asking them to rate the services

Surveys combined with automation is the best. That way, I get instantly notified if I receive a less-than-ideal survey submission that I need to follow up on

I set up automated responses on our Facebook page. When Facebook notifies us about auto bot response, I chime into the conversation to let the person know that an actual human is listening. I often get a brief (and postitve) conversation.

For our organization, we can follow up at the student's 6-month or 1-year mark after they've completed a program with us. We can first congratulate them on their graduation anniversary and then ask if there's anything we can do to help.

Talking to customers about their goals and offering suggestions even if it wasn't our business was a very powerful strategy that we employed. This is how we got our customers to trust us

We don't use surveys because of the low respond rate. email or a phone call is working better for us
