New Courses and Appointment Objects

I wanted to see if anyone has come across any best practices for using the new Course and Appointment objects in HubSpot. While HubSpot has released the standard documentation, I haven’t seen much around real-world examples or how others are putting them to use.

We’re a smaller team on the Professional license and have often had to repurpose existing objects due to limitations around creating custom ones. These feel like pre-built custom objects, which is exciting, and I’m looking for a bit of inspiration or examples of how others are leveraging them. I think our use case could benefit from these, but I'd love to hear how others are approaching it.

Hi Josh,

We are using the Appointments tool to build reports for our salespeople's weekly activities. They set appointments for account visits they're planning to make, and then after the appointment they use a Note to summarize how the appointment went and associate it to all relevant parties. We have a dashboard for each salesperson that shows this week's appointments, next week's appointments, and past appointments going back 30 days. We also have a separate dashboard showing all salespeople's appointments for next week, and this is automatically emailed to our VP every Saturday. They used to do all of this in Excel, so this is a much cleaner way, and allows for more detailed record keeping and reporting.

Got it - so appointments are used 100% internally, with essentially a 1:1 relationship to each deal. I’m guessing you were previously using deal properties to track these activities, but now that appointments are their own object, it’s a lot easier to build reports and workflows without sifting through dozens (or hundreds) of deal properties.

We’re exploring a slightly different use case. We host info sessions for the courses we offer, and typically have 5–9 people join each session. Ideally, we’d create an appointment object for each session and allow people to register for the time that works best for them - so more of a one-to-many relationship.

The challenge is that Appointment objects aren’t currently available in forms, and while I’ve come up with a few workarounds, they end up being just as manual as our current setup.

I would like to use Courses objects and Appointments to track the participation of my players in my amateur sports team: Players pay a yearly fee to subscribe to the sports team, then they should attend the training sessions: each session should be an appointment. But actually, while the data model shows the two object classes are associated, actually i see no "Appointments" box in the course page, and vice versa - and i can't add it in the record layout customization.

Any ideas?
