I see why that feels off. The Knowledge Base “Analyze” tool doesn’t filter articles by their original publish date, it includes all current published content in the dataset.

That’s why you see 2025 articles showing up when the date range is set to 2024. At the moment, HubSpot doesn’t exclude articles that didn’t exist in the chosen range, so you can’t get a true YoY comparison of “0 view” articles directly in that report

The workaround is to export the article performance data, where you’ll find both the “Created Date” and view metrics, and then apply your own filter in Excel or Looker Studio. That way you can exclude any article created after the period you’re analyzing. Archived articles also aren’t included in the default report, so if you want to benchmark them you’ll need to export and add them manually

When reviewing article health, I want to compare the number of articles with 0 views from last year to this year. See if we are getting better traction in the KB and if the changes I have made over the last year are in the right direction.
The roadblock is that any article that is currently published is part of that report. So, an article created a week ago is part of the report when looking at Last Year. It didn't exist, so how can it be accounted for in the analytics?

The expectation would be that the article's original published date would be accounted for when selecting the time range.
Cherry on top: include archived articles or have a filter option to display or hide archived articles.

It's hard for our community members to help without more details. Can you share examples of the report you created, the filters used, and the unexpected result?

Hi @Jaycee_Lewis

Great call out!

As you can see, I am in the Knowledge base under Analyze.

I am looking at the Article Health report.

My date range is set for "Last Year", 2024.

Articles created in April and May of this year, 2025, are displaying in the results.

My expectation would be, any articles created after the date range selected would be excluded or identified in some way with a "-" dash, or N/A in the results.

I would like to see how many articles have 0 views. Then compare that number YoY. I have made major updates and changes to the KB in the last year, and it would be nice to see the impact those changes are having.

Honestly, reporting in general would be a game-changer with the KB.

Thanks,

Sarah
