upload a file and attach to a engagement into a ticket

hi,
among the various api available in hubspot which is the canon way to just upload a file and associate it to a engagement?
file api is requiring a folder, so it will be visible on the file manager, that it's not a nice thing actually.

Having possibility to make a single api call to create a ticket, a notification engagement to the customer with uploaded files would be nice, but having to split give many options

Hey @AMrb yes at the moment the only way to upload a file to an object in HS is to upload it to the file manager and then associate through the engagements url. At the moment there's no way to directly upload a file for an association without it going to the file manager.

SOLUTION NOT ACCEPTED because it seems there is no other way to upload a file apart file manager, that is not optimal solution because you would end up having email attachment files into the file manager.

this is a issue.
Please do not mark this thread as solved because it cannot be solved at the moment.

Hey @AMrb it looks like you have accepted your own response as a solution. Just FYI this board is for questions on how to use the product, at the moment this is how this operates. If you want to request a feature update to the product team to consider changing this within the future you can submit a feature request on the ideas board.

I understand that no problem, you are very kind, but still your answer is not a solution, it's an answer how it operates but not the solution to the fact that your attachements will be stored in a file manager, so do not mark it as the "solution" thank you.

Hi @AMrb just confirming, I do not work for HubSpot so have no way to change the functionality. A "solution" is an answer to how something operates, At the moment this is how the functionality is built within HubSpot and there are no workarounds. So there is no other "solution" to this. I did not mark anything as a solution, it seems you marked your own response as a solution to this. I would not mark my own post as a solution to any post.

If you wish to have this functionality changed, I would definitely recomend you open an ideas board post through the ideas forum, as this board is not used for tracking feature requests to get the product updates.

To upload a file and attach it to an engagement in a ticket, you will need to first upload the file to the file manager. Once uploaded, you can associate the file with the engagement by using its URL. Unfortunately, there is no direct way to upload a file for association without first uploading it to the file manager. Hey @JJ9 just for future reference if you have a new question it's usually a good idea to open a new post instead of posting on an old thread, it will help get a lot more eyes on your question!

If you want to upload files to your file manager, outside of just using the file manager in the HubSpot app you can use the files api.
