Open attachments in external viewer?

Hi All. Apologies if this has been asked/answered elsewhere. I can't seem to find anything that answers my question.

Is there any way of opening attachments added to a company or contact page, open in an external editor?

Currently, if we want to view an attachment, we click it, it then opens a new preview window/tab where we have to download the attachment locally to be able to open and view it in it's respective editor.

Is there any way, that we can tell HubSpot (either a feature or setting) to open attachments (such as CSV/XLSX) in Excel, rather than what seems like a very counter productive way of opening attachments.

Same with PDF files, can these not open in an external reader such as Acrobat Reader etc, rather than a browser window/new tab?

Maybe i am missing something, but this seems a very long winded way of handling attachments.

This is more browser-related than it is HubSpot-related. For example, for Adobe Reader you can find instructions for what you're looking for here: https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/hub/how-to/why-pdfs-open-in-browser

Thanks for the info. However, I think I confused my original question. (I've updated it)

What i actually was trying to explain (and failed badly at), was that attachments from a company page/file manager, open in a 'preview' window.

Is there any way we can have these opening in an external editor like Excel for example?

So does your reply mean that this is how Hubspot functions (you have to download it to open it) and there is no option to change it?

I understand that while viewing an attachment file on a contact record, you'd like it to see it as a file (like .csv or .pdf) instead or opening in another tab of the browser, is that right?

Has anyone found a solution for this? We are unable to quickly see documents, especially word files

Agree with your comments no solution yet. I want to be able to click on the word document that was attached to a record and have it open it.

I can open files in my browser, what I can't do is click on the word document attachement that is on a contact record and have it open it.
