I got a notification via email that some one had viewed one of our Hubspot Documents. This would have been a document opened in a Hubspot templated email. Is there any way to find out which contact opened it up.

Thanks!

Thanks a ton @edjusten - However, I'm still having a little trouble. When I go to the sales dashboard -> Sales Tools -> Notifications -> Display -> Document , I'm still not finding anything. I'm getting emails that say "Someone viewed your document". But that's all the info it has. It unfortunately doesn't say who is opening the document. We're on a paid plan with Hubspot sales if that helps.

Thanks in advance for the insight and patience with a Hubspot newbie!

Hi @hardywoof Are you sending documents in an email using CC? The sales extension is designed for 1:1 commmunications between you and your prospects. If you send one email to multiple contacts via CC, the system can't distinguish who opened the document, only that they were opened. If you sent a document to an inidvidual, you should see a notification that they opened the document, and it will be noted on their timeline. Also, the Documents reporting feature will not inidcate who opened the Documents.

Thanks again @edjusten . The document that is being viewed is a link that is in one of the templated emails. It is embeded into the email and connected to Hubspot document. It is not an attachement.

When we made the template in Hubspot, there is a feature that allows you to add a link in the email, that when it's clicked on goes to a saved document in hubspot. I've attached a screenshot of what that looks like in the template area.

Thanks again for the help! Much appreciated.

What I said above still applies. Emails with Document links sent to multiple recipients at one time will result in "Someone" notifications. This HubSpot Academy resource explains "Someone" email notifcations; document notifcations work the same way.

Hi @edjusten!

Just got here, and following the thread. I could say that I just sent 1-1 email throughout Hubspot and got the notification "someone" clicked on a link. I go to Documents and the only thing I can see is "Someone" viewed the file, but I can not see WHO.

Sorry I know this is like 3 years later but I could help someone else that's how I got here, I think checking the box requires email address to view will let you know who "someone" has opened or accessed your document... I could be wrong but logic kinda prevails in my assumption.
