topic How to create a default pipeline for a specific user in Sales Hub Tools

Hello!

I have a sales pro user that has access to multiple pipelines (based on the way our sales process is, she needs access to many but only adds deals to one).

We have tried many things and for some reason, HubSpot won't remember the previous pipeline selection. She creates deals from a contact level and from a deal level. It remembers her selection when working right out of deals but it doesn't remember when working out of contacts. Also, I tried reordering the Pipelines in the settings but even doing that, it never chooses the one she's working in.

Is there a Workflow that she can make to auto default to a pipeline? The workflow would need to be user specific for her and not automatically default for everyone else.

Open to other ideas. The workflow is just the last thing we haven't tried.

Hi there, @cheymar1776 -

Jumping right in here, currently HubSpot’s "Create Deal" form defaults are generally set at a global level (via the Pipeline ordering settings you mentioned), whereas the "sticky" feature (remembering the last used pipeline) wouldn't inherently carry over when creating deals from different objects.

Since reordering the global pipeline settings would affect your entire team, your idea to use a Workflow is the most viable workaround to ensure this specific user’s deals land in the right place automatically.

@CarolinaDeMares, @Mike_Eastwood - tagging a few of our experts here. Have either of you tackled user-specific pipeline defaults recently?

You would essentially create a deal-based workflow, enrolling specifically from the Deal owner and pipeline(s).
From there, you would "set property value" to adjust the pipeline and status as needed.
For a split second, the deal will exist in the "wrong" pipeline before the workflow moves it.
You'll want to ensure you don't have other automation that triggers immediately upon creation, as this method might impact those flows.

Hi @cheymar1776,

As far as I know, no, there aren't any specific settings for individual users that would remember a previously selected pipeline across tools and dropdowns, no. It would be useful to have, indeed, and you could request this from the product team by submitting an idea here: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas

Best regards
