Automatic associate company to deal?

We are new to Hubspot. As we create deals we are associating them with a contact name. The contact is associated with a company but the company doesn't automatically get associated with the deal when it is linked to the contact name.

Is there a way to automate this?

Hi @KSimpson2007 yes, you can now automate company to deal assocations via workflow:

1 - create a deal based workflow

2 - choose your triggers (such as create date is known, or a specific deal stage)

3 - choose "create associations" as the action

4 - configure the association:

This would be based on a matching property value - to make this work, you'd need to have a property on the deal that is also on the company (which could be synced from the contact).

This is a really new capability, so I'd recommend testing it out to see that it does what you're looking for.

If this doesn't work the way you want, there's also Associ8 which has been around a while and solved for the lack of this native feature - it might be a bit easier to configure the associations via the integration's workflow options if you can't get this working just right.

How exactly are you creating deals? When using the create record form, at the very end, you can specify both contacts and companies:

Yes, you could leverage a workflow for this like @Jnix284 has explained – but the simplest option to me seems to be to maintain both dropdowns?

If someone has removed this company association dropdown from the create record form, you can re-add it by following these steps: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/object-settings/set-up-fields-seen-when-manually-creating-records

If you're creating deals another way, please share more context.

so you got all the possible options here

given by Karsten and Jennifer.

Summing up, you can associate Company to Deal:

- Manually (when creating the Deal)

- With Workflows (this is rather new - launched the past weeks)

- By API (programming is needed and Operations Hub - if you need a more advance/custom setup than the standard associations with workflows)

- with 3rd party apps like Associ8 (this is if you dont have workflows and also need more advance setup)

@karstenkoehler haha, thanks for calling out the obvious way to do this - I've been working a lot with the new associations workflow that I completely forgot to check why they weren't being added in the first place 😆

@AGuevara5 @KSimpson2007 yes, to create and use assocation labels you need a pro or enterprise subscription. Here's the documentation specific to using association labels in workflows.

you're welcome @AGuevara5 - you might check the Product Updates section in your portal (click your name in the upper right, it's near the bottom of the menu) to see if it's in beta, I don't remember if it was fully released at the time I shared this answer.

this is currently a private beta

You can check ou if you can still enroll in that Beta

if not, I think it will be a matter of time until this becomes a live/for everyone feature

as it is super helpful.
