Hi @EVossebeld ,

I would advocate for making Houses a custom object, and keeping deals as an individual transaction/sale. You could then associate Houses to Deals and see all of the Deals associated with that House. You could also still have a Project custom object, so Project has a one to many relationship with houses, which has a one to many relationship with Deals.

I think this is the best way to retain all of the information you need and not change/destroy values that you really want to keep for historical purposes.

One of our customers sells houses. We wanted to make those 'houses' deals and associate the contacts with them. Those houses belong to a project which is a custom object. But in a couple of years the houses will be sold again and should shift from the stage Closed to Open again. Sometimes the value of that house increases or the sustainability label changes. We want a dashboard which can show these changes, so how many times goes the houses in a project back to 'open' again or how much increases the average value in X years.

Thanks for the explanation Trevor. One additional question, how do I create a report to see the changes in the houses. So for example selling price and sustainability label.

Hi @EVossebeld

In the custom reports builder, you'll want to select the "Houses" Custom Object as well as the "Deals" object.

From the houses object, just the property name (perhaps address?) or record ID will be sufficient.

From the Deals object, I would choose the Amount Field and the Close Date Field, and display the informaiton in a tabular format.

I might use a Pivot Table to display the data, with the

Object Name of the house as a row.

Deal Close Date as a row

Amount as a value

This should present all of the homes with all of their close dates and closing values.
