Hi @MMetros5,

The task type is what you're selecting when creating a task:

This is an additional way to filter / categorize tasks and refers to what the task is about. A task to make a call. A task to write an email. The task is however not the email itself (which would be recorded as a separate activity).

In other words, an activity can be a call, an email, a task. A call and an email do not have a task type. Only tasks have a task type. This allows you to take care of all email-related tasks first before tackling all call-related tasks.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

I am trying to understand the anatomy of the following activities properties:

Task type: the type of a task, either Call, Email, or To Do.

Activity type: the type of activity, such as call, meeting, email, task

Under what circumstances would an activity type of email not have a task type of email? If the activity type is email, does that mean it is automated, while the task type of email is manual?

We use Hubspot sales sequences.

This distinction seems arbitrary and confusing. Why not simply have different categories for activities?
