Deal velocity and momentum

Good afternoon HubSpot colleagues. Our CEO is asking for a measure of velocity and momentum in our pipeline. We are new to Hubspot and at this point we are only implmenting HS for one of our prooduct lines.

We would like to show a rolling 4 week chart of revenue in Deals added by Stage. The rolling 4 week bar chart needs to sum the Deals over each weekly period. In other words Week 2 Stage revenue = Week 1 plus Week 2.

We would also like to display rolling 4 week Deal counts by stage. Again, as running total. We would like to do this on 1 chart if possible but 2 is acceptable.

Hi Karsten, I looked at that report and if I understand correctly it measures Deal velocity by looking at Deal closing timeframes. Our products recently launched and we have very few Deals closing. We want to measure velocity by new Deals and Deal movement through the Pipeline. A Deal moving from Qualfied Lead to Proposal stage would show Deal velocity. We would like to show a running total by Deal Stage measured by Deal Count and Deal Revenue as well.

@JSchmitz2 in that case, you would have to create your own "time between" calculation propertie(s) based on deal stage entered dates: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-calculation-properties

Once you have these created, you can reference them in custom reports, add count if deals and revenue if needed.

@karstenkoehler Thanks for your response. I don't think I need anything that detailed. Here's an Excel view of what I'm trying to create. WWxx is just the date in weeks. It's fine to present as a date.

I was able to create this report. It's a good start but I would like the columns to sum week to week i.e. a running total. I would also like to the Stages to pupulate in the legend even when there are not Deals in that Stage. We have 5 stages and only 3 populated because the others had no Deals created that week.

There you go 🙂 Simply set up a report based on the data source "Deals" like shown below in the custom report builder.

Under "Chart settings", make sure not to stack the bars (Stacked = None).

Hi Karsten, I'm getting there. Thanks so much for your help. Two questions on the chart below:

1. Is it possible to show the revenue amounts as a running total. In other words Week 15 = Week 13 + Week 15 and Week 16 = Week 13 + Week 15 + Week 16

2. I would like to edit the legend to show WW13 instead of just "13".
