How to report on duration between property changes

Hi! We use a custom property to track the lifecycle stage of our contacts.

I need to calculate the duration between changes in the property. Ie., how long a contact stays in each lifecycle stage, so we can measure how long contacts are sitting at the MQL stage before converting to an SQL.

Is there any way to do this?

Hi @SSpringate,

Is there a reason you're not using these default properties?

Cumulative time in [lifecycle stage]: the cumulative time in seconds spent by the contact in the stage. Learn more about lifecycle stage calculated properties.

Alternatively, you could use a calculation property to calculate the time between two date properties: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-calculation-properties

Hi Karsten,

Thanks so much for getting back to me. To answer your question - I actually have no idea why we don't use the default lifecycle stages. I have only been in the company for 3 months, so am very much working with the CRM I've inherited!

In terms of your second hyperlink, I would first need a property that tells me the date the property change occured (ie. when a contact converted from lead, to MQL, to SQL, and so on). How can I create this date property?

Once I have that, I'll be able to set up a field calculating the difference between these dates.
