CDurRard - If you followed the article and cloned the System Administrator profile, it will sync everything. The reason is that System Administrator profile has "Modify All Data" under System Permissions, which overrides all the other steps the article provides. If you try to create a new profile (I tried) and follow all the other steps, the sync does not work. As soon as I enable "Modify All Data", records sync in less thant 2 minutes.

I've received two different answers from HubSpot Support. One saying that Modify All Data is required for the sync and another one teling me to follow the article.

I have tried (and failed) to set up our selective sync with Salesforce. It seems pretty straight forward that we only want specfic record types (contacts, accounts) to sync with Hubspot. That's it. Can anyone help me figure this out? I've walked through the step by step multiple times and it continues to bring over all contacts/accounts.

Hey @CDuRard, thanks for reaching out! Selective sync can be difficult to set up in Salesforce, and you definitely want the help of a Salesforce admin, if possible, to ensure that all permissions are configured as desired.

I know you mentioned that you've gone through the guide before, but I just wanted to share this selective sync guide from HubSpot in case you were referencing a different one.

You basically need to set up the integration user to have access only to the records in Salesforce that you want to sync with HubSpot. This includes building out rules and logic in Salesforce, so definitely double-check what you've configured there to ensure that all leads/contacts don't technically meet the criteria you've set. Do what you can to simplify in Salesforce as well — consider creating a field like "Okay to sync with Salesforce" that you can set automatically if certain criteria are met. It could be easier to work with a property like that vs a bunch of conditional logic.

Hope this helps! Consider reaching out to Salesforce support or your Salesforce admin if the selective sync setup is still giving you trouble.

@jacob - Yes that is the exact link I've used. Is the Integration user a new user I create or is it already a part of the integration itself. I had to create the user and user profile myself and went step by step with the directions. Nothing works. Salesforce will NOT help becuase it's a Hubspot integration and Hubspot keeps telling me to ask Salesforce. It's frustrating beucase I cannot get the help needed.

Hello Jolle,

When going throuhg Selective Sync article, it instructs to clone the System Administrator profile in Salesforce. By doing so, it already have "Modify All Data" enabled. The article HubSpot has available instruct to remove "Modify All" from the object level and to create sharing rules. But the fact that "Modify All Data" is enabled, the whole article is pointless, since it overrides everything else.
https://www.hubspot.com/salesforce-selective-sync

I followed the steps by creating a new profile (not cloning System Admin) and in Salesforce I able able to limit the access to specific records. But nothing syncs over to HubSpot. As soon as I grant Modify All Data, records sync in less than 2 min. That being said, do you know if Modify All Data is required?

I appreciate the help.

You can also try using Skyvia. It has control over which record types get synced, and allows you to refine the sync to specific contacts or accounts. I used this tool for a similar task and performed well. You can find more information here.

Same. I am banging my head against the wall with this. The documentation says one thing but reality is quite different. I just want Person Accounts to sync. That's IT. Not Leads, Cases, Opportunities, etc etc etc. JUST Person Accounts. If I enable "Modify all data," I effectively cannot control what I want to sync SF. Make that make sense.
