Bi-directional sync with Connectwise Manage

We currently are setup with the ConnectWise Manage integration with a one-way sync from ConnectWise to Hubspot.

When we initially setup the Manage integration we were told to just enable the two-way sync. This ended up creating thousands of duplicate companies in ConnectWise, and we had to roll back the database to before the sync.

We currently have over 10,000 more contacts and 7,000 more companies in Hubspot, with the majority of them being from uploaded prospects and does not make sense for them to be synced back to Manage.

We do see value in having a two-way sync, but with only certain prospects, not all of the thousands that have been imported lists over the past few years.

Has anyone else run into this, and if so, were you able to find a workaround?

We currently are only using the one-way sync from ConnectWise Manage to Hubspot. We previously turned on the two-way sync and it caused mass duplication. We rolled back our ConnectWise database to prior to the two-way sync, so duplicates are not there.

It has been requested that the two-way sync be enabled so that data that is entered in Hubspot can be synced back to ConnectWise Mange, but we would like to be able to filter which data gets written to ConnectWise based on a certain company type or some other filter.

I am not an expert of this particular data-sync app, but if it works like many others, you got to go to the settings of the app and you should be able to filter which companies you want to sync or not. Either by selecting a list or filter criteria. This would allow you to select only the companies in HS that you want to sync in ConnectWise. I assume this would be your customers.

For this particular data-sync app, it seems that the companies are deduped based on exact match of the company name, which could explain the creation of many duplicates if on one side you have "Company ABC" and on the other side you have "Company ABC Inc." or that kind of mismatch. This is not ideal to manage duplicates. This would have been better if there would be a match on a unique ID like the company domain or a unique ID. This is an improvement you should suggest to the product team at HubSpot.

In the meantime, you can update the name of the companies you want to sync to be the same on both sides and this should solve the problem.

If the native integration doesn't work as expected, you can try our product, Stacksync, which allows you to sync your HubSpot data to a database. This would work if the ConnectWise database could be accessed directly, for example. Otherwise, it would require an in-between database.
