I have email history in gmail for conversations started before I began using HubSpot

I want to go into my gmail and manually forward each one to HubSpot and have the email show up in the contact's timeline. It is not working.

1. I locate the thread in gmail. I click forward and set bcc: to XXXXXXX@bcc.hubspot.com where XXXXXXX is my hub id.

I see a notification for the email, but the body of the email doesn't appear in the timeline of the contact involved in the forwarded conversation.

2. I do the same thing but add a "dummy" email address as well in the to: field.

This time the email appears in the timeline of the "dummy" email address but not the real contact for this conversation. I don't want to resend this or tons of other emails back to the original contacts because that would be extremely annoying.

3. I compose a new message and send it to hello@getsidekick.com as suggested in the troubleshooting thread on this forum.

It works fine. A new contact is created and the message is in its timeline.

4. I change the email address to XXXXXX@forward.hubspot.com.

It still doesn't work. Note: I did check that the first line of the message is the From: line.

What am I missing?

BTW: I can't afford migration services such as data2crm.com and I'd prefer to forward messages rather than copy / paste them from gmail to HubSpot.

Hi @kbenson,

If you are looking to push previously sent emails to contacts' timelines, you will want to put the forward address (xxxxx@forward.hubspot.com) in the forwarding address within your email inbox.

This article touches upon this process as well.

If you are taking those steps and not seeing the results you'd expect (the emails are not being forwarded to contact timelines), can you please send along screenshots of the way the emails are formatted that you're sending as well as the corresponding contacts' timelines to see what populates?

Hi,

I am totally confused about this process. If I want emails sent via Gmail (before I created my Hubstpot account) in my contact's timeline, the Gmail integration under settings > integrations > Gmail integrations should do the job, right?

It does not work.

If I use the BCC email and the Forward email, that would not work for past emails.

How can I make my Gmail emails appear in my Hubspot account?
