Hi @COGorman,

The most reliable way to do this is to first export your companies from HubSpot and then use VLOOKUP to add the company record ID to your event import file. When you import the companies, you can map the record ID, ensuring that it's definitely updating the existing company record.

Without this record ID, HubSpot will attempt to correctly map your import file companies to existing companies based on the company domain name. If this column is missing from your import file or if some companies cannot be matched, HubSpot will simply create a new company record.

Besides that, you would follow the steps outlined here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/import-objects

Let me know if that answers your question!

Hi,

I am currently building a list of accounts that are attending an event. I have an excel sheet with a list of exhibitors to date, many are already in Hubspot. I need to update existing ones in hubspot, and update a property I have created Called Events - with the Event Name, and alos add new ones and assign to the event alos.

How is best to do this?

Thank you. I did the VlookUp and have the small few that had records.

When importing the list, I can map the record IDs, but do I leave blank the ones with none? Should I let HS create the new companies?

Also Can I import on this same import a property I have created for Events and Map to the event in question?

@COGorman aha, not all companies exist yet in HubSpot? In that case you would do two imports: one for those where you successfully mapped the record ID (making sure during the import the record ID is mapped), one for those without record ID (creating new companies). Hope this helps!

@COGorman sure, if this is a company property, simply add a column for that property in your import file. If it's multiple checkboxes, make sure to set the semicolons correctly to not overwrite existing values, see here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file#formatting-property-values
