I need to parse text from specific documents in HubSpot

Hi,

I'm looking to get the content of text from specific documents in HubSpot (in this case, resumes from a subset of my contacts) so the content can be included in HubSpot search. I just need the raw text from pdf / Word documents dumped into a custom property.

I can only find one app on the marketplace that does this: TextParsing for File Uploads . and it has very few installations.

Do people have experience either with this app or with alternate solutions?

Have you considered importing this information as notes? (contacts + notes) https://knowledge.hubspot.com/import-and-export/set-up-your-import-file#multiple-objects-with-associations

thanks for your reply.

The issue isn't really where to store the text (although you're right, it makes sense to store it in a note), but how to extract it from a file that's already stored as a document in hubspot.

Hi @PAtlan,

I would try the app out or reach out to the developers. If they only have a few installs they are probably going to want to talk to you and help you out.

If the app you're looking at isn't viable, you could try a toollike Parserr to batch extract your document contents to a Google Sheet or Excel file: https://parserr.com/features/document-parsing/

Then you could batch import the excel file into HubSpot. Hopefully the documents you want to parse have an identifier that make them easy to associate with the right records in HubSpot.

@PAtlan - I just came upon this post. You were looking into our app, and are in exactly the right place.

Resume parsing is one of the main use cases we were solving for.

For other's reference (cc: @karstenkoehler / @james-portant ), the reason our app would work better than just a global search capability (although it would enable that too), is because you're able to parse text into an actual CRM field. So imagine being able to query for candidates who's resume contains a certain word ("HubSpot" for instance if you are looking for a new HubSpot Admin).
