Suggestion for Franchise Businesses Company Records?

Hey everyone,

Probably a simple questions but looking for anyone else that might be in a similar space.

I work primarily in the franchise space and the email formats are usually the same franchise-wide around every organization with the root domain being @companyname.com. This means that when contact records are made for contacts and tying the company from the URL it appears everyone is under the same company making the activity feed a little jumbled as there are many conversations not relevant to that particular franchisee.

Does anyone have suggestions here or is the best way to get accurate organized data to create a different actual company record for each? Company Name Houston for example?

I have seen 2 main solutions to this problem.

1) Exclude certain domains from the automatic association: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/automatically-create-and-associate-companies-with-contacts#e...

2) Remove the domains from all the franchise companies (children) and keep the domain only on the parent company. Make a list of all contacts that are associated to these parent companies and assign these contacts manually to the correct franchise (child) company.

Either way, using a distinctive name (Company Name + Location) and adding the address information is a good idea to provide clarity and to avoid that these companies might be considered as duplicates.

What Jonas said above are some solid suggestions. I had a couple of questions:

Are you using child-parent associations for the separate companies? Are you using labels?

With a little more info we might be able to come up with a good workaround.
