Adding Company records to link with existing Contact Names

I'm new to Hubspot and learning as I go. Here's my question:

I'm slowly adding contact names manually one by one. I've only got about a dozen names in so far.

Now, when I begin adding new company records manually, how can I make sure that they link up with the existing contact names that belong in that respective company record?

Hi @JWynn9 ,

HubSpot automatically associate company name and contacts name if the domain name of the company is same as the doamin in the contact's email address.

Hi @JWynn9,

There is a HubSpot setting which will create companies based on the contact email domain automatically: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/automatically-create-and-associate-companies-with-contacts

In this case, you wouldn't have to manually create the company records but could flick this switch, if it isn't yet, sit back and then continue updating the company records to your liking.

If that's not an option, you can always manually associate contacts and companies by following these steps: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/associate-records#add-associations-to-a-record

Lastly, if you create companies first, then contacts, the contact create record form should also have an option to pick an associated company - that way, you wouldn't have to go into one of the two records and associate them. You could do so directly from the create form.
