Hi @MNielsen85 hope you are doing great.

As Josh mentioned,

using the same standard objects to have diferent Partners & Customers

is possible if you are very organized in how you segment,

use associations and all of the tactics around the CRM, and of course, depending on the amount of information you are handling .

👉Having a Custom object is going to be a step up,

because using a custom object is going to make it easier to have different properties and organize the information, have different proceses and associations and is going to be easier to build exact reports without having to filter information.

Also consider how are this CO records coming into the CRM (manually, imported, sync from other platforms)

Also if you are planning to do specific campaigns with them.

One of our customers that is a B2B Saas Company, is using a custom object for Partners and the standard objects contacts and companies for customers/end users.

Other custom objects that you could consider are: free trials, App accounts/App users, Discounts, Software freatures (and much more)

🧐So, depending the company strategy and the maturity of the business you can keep the standard objects or go all-in with the custom objects.

Hope this Helps.

Hi

I work for a company that are in the process of getting HubSpot CRM, Sales & Marketing Hub. However we are insecure if we need the to have Custom Objects to satisfy our company needs. In short I can describe our business as the following:

- We are a B2B software company selling our products through partners.

- Each Partner can have several users we want to register (sales, marketing, management etc.)

- Each user can manage one or more end-customers (companies)

- Each end customer (company) can have some clients associated with the company.

- Each end customer can have more than one partner by which they purchase our products

We want to be able to communicate with each user (from Partner) and also each client (from customer) as well as know which users have which partners associated with them and how they perform in terms of e.g. sales performance.

Do we need custom objects for this or can we use the standard functionality and set properties and handle it that way? Or are we missing out on some features by doing it that way?

Hope you can help!

Thanks

Best regards

Morten

Hi @MNielsen85,

I think you could technically achieve this using standard objects and association labels. You could still communicate with all parties involved and track the associations between your partner and the end customer, at least at the deal level. You wouldn't necessarily be able to track the association between a partner and end customer at the company level.

The custom object is the better solution in my opinion because you would have the ability to track all relationships, which will become even more important if there are multiple deals per end customer. Reporting would also be better using a custom object, at least from what I have found from similar setups.

Short answer: Yes, standard objects might work but custom objects would work better.
