To be honest, I've never really considered this in all of my data cleanup, but I would think to write it as the companies do, ie: I've never seen General Electric written as "G E" with a space. The key is making sure that in order to create accounts that your team has enough required fields to help the system make matches to prevent duplicates like "G E", "GE", "General Electric".

I'm looking for best practices when entering company names that start with abbreviations; like GE (General Electric), P&G (Procter and Gamble), 3M, BMW, and so on. Spaces or no spaces between characters?

Company names like these were imported from the previous CRM with a space between the characters, like "G E", but over time, naming convention has become inconsistent at our company. One owner enters "B M W" and the next owner enters "ESPN". We want to get back to consistent pratices.

Take "GE", for instance. Results when searching for company name "GE" can be quite different than results when searching for "G E" (with a space).

I'm looking for best practices to make our data consistent, easy for users to understand and yield best search results.

Thank you Community
