Automatic email association to a deal

Hello, I have a problem with associations from contacts to deals. When I send an email to a contact associated to a deal I only see the email in the contact and not in the deal.

I saw here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/associate-activities-with-records that is supposed to be logged automatically into deals.

Anyone knows how to do so?

Hi @MVenverloo,

Correct, emails to contacts should log on the five most recent associated open deals. Open deals are deals that are not in closed-won or closed-lost deal stages.

If that doesn't work, could you double check whether:

- the contacts are definitely associated with the deal records

- you're looking at a filtered timeline on the deal record, excluding emails: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/view-the-history-of-an-activity-in-a-timeline

Hi, thanks for your answer !
I just checked and the contact is associated with the deal and I am not looking at a filtered timeline but I still can't see the emails sent in the deal record. The only way would be to associate every email manually... But I have hundreds of emails every week.

Do you have another solution ?

Also I forgot to say that I have exactly the same problem with companies records, I do not see the emails from associated contacts on companies records.

Hey @MVenverloo It looks like you never got an answer here.

Head to Settings > Objects > Activities > Email Log & Track and apply default association for all users. Here you can select what objects are associated (except custom objects).

I am having the same issue and the Default Association already includes Deals. I use the Chrome Sales Extension to send my emails, I'm logged into the extension but my emails sent don't always log to the Deal, only the contact. Really frustating to have to manually log things to the deal, and for me this is happening randomly so it's hard to keep track
